Igor Verny | Exploring Nature, Metal & the Mysteries of the Universe
From the endless steppes of Kazakhstan Igor Verny’s artistic journey began with curiosity. As a child, his days were spent chasing butterflies, dragonflies, grasshoppers, and beetles. He studied the tiny details of the natural world around him. At the same time, he collected discarded pieces of metal, transforming forgotten fragments into imaginative animal creations.

But Igor’s inspiration reached far beyond the creatures beneath his feet. In the evenings, he would look up at the stars and wonder: What exists beyond what we can see? Where did the insects, stones, landscapes, and life around us come from? These childhood questions about the origins of nature, the universe, and existence became the foundation of his creative philosophy.

His work is a beautiful connection between earth and sky—the tiny creatures that surround us and the endless universe above us. Each handmade sculpture reflects curiosity, craftsmanship, and the timeless desire to understand the world we call home. Some of Igor’s sculptures even come alive through movement, with carefully designed mechanical elements that transform reclaimed metal into creatures filled with motion, personality, and wonder.

Size range: Overall, my sculptures range from 6 centimeters (about 2.5 inches) up to 60 centimeters (24 inches).
Medium-sized insects (20 cm): My core, medium-complexity insects are 20 centimeters (around 8 inches) and usually cost between $3,000 and $4,000.
24-inch (60 cm) articulated pieces: Your estimate is very accurate! These large pieces range from $7,000 to $10,000. There is no fixed timeline for them: it can take anywhere from 1 month up to 3–4 months, heavily depending on the specific animal or insect species and its complexity.
Important Feature: I never make completely static sculptures. Absolutely every piece I create, even the smallest ones starting around $300, features fully articulated joints.
Current Sales: Due to current sanctions and complicated international shipping logistics (including the new U.S. customs regulations and the $100 declaration limits for duty-free parcels), shipping large and high-value items has become extremely difficult. Because of this, I have temporarily paused the production and shipping of my medium and large pieces (including the $3,000–$4,000 and $7,000–$10,000 items).
Currently, I focus almost exclusively on smaller, less detailed works priced up to $1,000, as they are the only ones that can be safely shipped under these strict customs restrictions.
